MULTIDISCIPLINARY EVALUATIONS

Multidisciplinary Evaluations

Plum Tree provides multidisciplinary evaluations that offer a comprehensive understanding of how each child thinks, learns, and experiences the world. Through neuropsychological testing, these evaluations examine how attention, memory, reasoning, emotions, and energy levels work together to shape a child’s daily functioning.

Our multidisciplinary evaluations bring together expertise from psychology, education, speech and language, and medical perspectives. By looking at patterns across these disciplines, we identify each child’s unique strengths and challenges and gain insight into how they learn, regulate emotions, and relate to others. Parents often share, “This describes my child perfectly and explains things more clearly than I ever could.”

Most importantly, multidisciplinary evaluation results lead to clear, actionable guidance. Our reports translate findings into practical recommendations for home, school, and treatment settings. Families leave not only with answers, but with a clear plan that helps parents, educators, and providers know what to prioritize next.

Why do local doctors and schools trust Plum Tree?

Local pediatricians and educators often refer to Plum Tree when a child’s needs are complex or unclear. Many teachers even choose us for their own children after reading our reports. We look beyond test scores to connect the dots, leading to clearer answers, stronger support, and better outcomes.

What makes your multidisciplinary team approach different?

Our licensed specialists collaborate throughout the evaluation process, sharing insights across disciplines rather than working in silos. This team approach allows us to see the full picture of a child’s development.

How are your evaluation results different from standard testing reports?

We don’t just list scores. Our reports tell your child’s story by explaining how thinking, movement, language, emotions, and behavior are connected in everyday life.

How do your evaluations help with next steps?

Because we understand how challenges overlap, our recommendations are practical, personalized, and easy to apply at home, in school, and in therapy settings.

How do you support families after the evaluation?

We take the time to explain results in clear, understandable language. Our goal is for families to leave feeling informed, confident, and hopeful about what comes next.

What does “connecting the dots” really mean?

It means we go beyond testing to integrate information across disciplines. This leads to more accurate diagnoses, more targeted support, and stronger long-term outcomes for children.

How does testing help my child?

A neuropsychological evaluation helps us understand how your child’s brain works, including how they think, learn, feel, and behave. This deeper understanding allows us to see not just what your child is struggling with, but why.

Testing is often recommended when there are concerns about learning, attention, emotions, or behavior. It can help clarify conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, learning differences, and behavioral challenges. We also evaluate for concerns related to OCD, trauma, language delays, and tics.

The goal of testing is to identify your child’s challenges while also highlighting their strengths. With this information, we can provide clear, practical recommendations that support your child at home, in school, and in everyday life.

What Is The Testing Process Like?

In the final report, families often say they truly recognize their child, now with a clearer framework that explains challenges and highlights strengths that may have been overlooked. The results open the door to evidence-based parenting strategies, targeted treatment, and meaningful school supports.

We believe listening leads to better answers. Research shows that careful listening improves diagnostic accuracy, and you are the expert on your child. For that reason, the evaluation process includes thoughtful parent input and questionnaires completed before your child’s testing appointment. With your permission, we may also gather information from your child’s school to better understand how they function in the classroom.

After testing is complete, we meet with you to review the results and explain them in clear, practical terms. Many families also choose to have their child meet with the doctor for a positive, one-on-one closing conversation. Ultimately, you receive a comprehensive report with clear next steps—practical, evidence-based, and designed to support your child at home, at school, and beyond.

No. Neurofeedback uses EEG technology to measure brainwaves while a child watches a screen and attempts to change how their brain functions. That approach is different from the evaluations we provide at Plum Tree.

Our neuropsychologists work directly with your child. We spend time talking with them and observing how they solve problems, use language, complete school-like tasks, and respond to challenges. Rather than trying to change brain activity, our goal is to understand how your child thinks, learns, and manages stress.

This hands-on, relational approach allows us to gather meaningful information that leads to accurate understanding and practical recommendations.
