Lesley Throneburg

Lesley holds a Master’s Degree from Loyola University of Chicago. She is also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) and a Certified Mindfulness Informed Clinician. With over ten years of experience working within schools, Lesley brings to Plum Tree a unique approach to connecting with children, adolescents, and their families.

Throughout her career, specific areas of focus have included anxiety management, emotional and self-regulation, executive functioning and social skills. Lesley helps children and adolescents understand their feelings in a way that makes sense to them, which brings a new light to their perspective and interactions with the world around them. A whole child approach is used to assess various factors which may be influencing functioning. Incorporating the strengths of her clients draws a picture of hope and helps them to develop a sense of resiliency. Lesley has special interests with layering mindfulness techniques into her sessions with the intent to gradually build self-awareness around connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Lesley’s natural ability to join with others creates a safe and welcoming space to comfortably explore areas of growth while providing opportunities to pause, practice and self-reflect. It is within this space where patterns begin to shift. The use of newly introduced tools between sessions is encouraged, to foster opportunities for supportive reflection during follow up. Every small step within the therapeutic process counts as success in working towards the end treatment goal. Lesley recognizes the privilege of having the opportunity to empower clients with the confidence to embrace these new skills as they move forward throughout their lives with a sense of well-being and balance.
