Nanci Galindo Cambray, LPC – Bilingual Counselor

Nanci Favela, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), is a bilingual counselor who works with children, adolescents, and families. Through a compassionate and strengths-based approach, she helps clients navigate emotional, behavioral, and personal challenges. In addition, she creates a supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable exploring their experiences and building healthier coping skills.

Education and Professional Credentials

After earning her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Disability Services from Northern Illinois University, Nanci became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois. She is also committed to making mental health care accessible to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Furthermore, Nanci provides counseling services in both English and Spanish. As a result, she is able to support families who may feel more comfortable communicating in either language.

Clinical Experience and Areas of Focus

Throughout her career, Nanci has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of clinical settings. Her experience includes helping clients manage both emotional concerns and complex life circumstances.

For example, she has supported survivors of domestic violence and worked with families navigating DCFS involvement. Additionally, she has experience facilitating group therapy and helping clients develop practical strategies for emotional well-being.

Nanci works with clients experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, family stress, behavioral challenges, and difficult life transitions. Because every client has different needs, she works collaboratively with individuals and families to create a personalized treatment approach.

Therapeutic Approach

Using evidence-based and developmentally appropriate methods, Nanci incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and other therapeutic interventions into her work. Depending on the needs of the client, these approaches may help improve emotional awareness, coping skills, communication, and problem-solving.

For children and adolescents, play-based and creative interventions can offer another way to express difficult thoughts and feelings. Meanwhile, CBT can help clients better understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another.

Above all, Nanci values strong and trusting therapeutic relationships. By creating a safe and empathetic space, she helps clients process their experiences, recognize their strengths, and develop practical tools for greater resilience and emotional well-being.

Personal Life and Well-Being

Outside of counseling, Nanci values balance, creativity, and meaningful relationships. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, arts and crafts, and trying new foods. She also enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.
