Tamara Shasteen

Tamara Anesi-Shasteen specializes in a personalized style of practicing medicine that aims to have a profound effect on the health of your child and your family. Her primary goal is to treat each child individually and to closely decipher the best plan of medical or non-medical care, in order to bring forward your child’s maximum potential. Many patients come to her confused about their next steps and options. She enjoys educating families about health processes and effective treatment choices, while providing hope during a time that can often feel exhausting or frustrating due to many moving parts. She is known for her calm demeanor, gentle nature with children, and trusted relationships with parents. She enjoys assisting in putting the pieces back together for us all to enjoy our children and families to their fullest.

Tamara’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Science and Master’s degree from Marquette University with a specialty focus in Pediatrics, and a Fellowship with The Ohio State University on Child-Adolescent Mental Health. She has always practiced in the treatment of pediatric and adolescent medicine for ages 0-25. She practiced as a Registered Nurse in the intensive and acute care hospital settings at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Once receiving her Master’s degree in 2003, she began her work as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Stanford University Children’s Hospital with the surgical team where she implemented and grew a pediatric vascular access team and program, with special focus in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care. Later she joined the Pediatric Oncology team, where she spent the majority of her career at Stanford. During her time at Stanford, she humbly received the prestigious ROSE award for Recognition of Service Excellence. Upon returning to Illinois to be closer to family, she accepted a job with the government and the State of Illinois to implement and support mass vaccine clinics during the COVID pandemic.

Tamara has a passion for serving others, especially children. She is a mother to three beautiful children; a cancer activist; an athlete who enjoys running/hiking, volleyball, skiing & most all sports; an avid reader; a pianist; and a student of life.

Tamara Anesi-Shasteen, APRN-FPA, CPNP-PC will begin accepting patients in March 2023.
