Cassie Furbur

Cassie is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She double majored in college with a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Human Services at Loyola University Chicago. She then went on to get her master’s degree from Roosevelt University in Clinical Psychology Counseling.
Cassie has experience working with children and adolescents within Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization Program, and Intensive Outpatient Program settings. She also has experience working with adults at an inpatient level of care. She has worked with individuals with trauma, behavioral issues, developmental delays, autism, mood disorders, anxiety, and depression. She has experience doing individual, group, and family therapy. She enjoys working with children and adolescents. She has experience in crisis intervention and has completed her CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) that is a training that focuses on helping individuals de-escalate.
Clients connect with Cassie due to her easy-going and fun personality. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is critical to therapy and focuses on building a strong rapport with her clients by providing a safe space to offer support and encouragement. She understands that children can have difficulty expressing their emotions and aims to provide the tools they need to communicate and advocate for themselves. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered Therapy. Cassie strives towards challenging clients to explore and empower themselves to continue to grow.
In her free time, Cassie enjoys reading books, cuddling with her two cats (Luna and Larry), and cooking.
